April 27, 2013

Just a few minutes ago, from the official Twitter account of the event, we received the news that tomorrow (April 28, 2013)
Tom Hiddleston will take part to the OLIVIER AWARDS and he will be one of the presenters.

From all this, we can also deduce that our Thomas is finally back in London and his stay in Los Angeles has ended…

It is not the first time that Hiddleston takes part in this event; in 2008 Tom won the award for the Best Newcomer for his stage performance in The Cymbeline.

The Olivier Awards 2013 with MasterCard will celebrate the fantastic achievement of the best theatremakers in the world with its fabulous ceremony at the Royal Opera House on 28 April hosted by previous award winner Sheridan Smith and Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville, and attended by West End stars, powerhouse producers, screen and music idols and a host of London’s most illustrious movers and shakers.

US star Matthew Morrison – Glee’s Mr Schuester – and Broadway sensation Idina Menzel will both be giving very special performances at the event, as will recording star Petula Clark who, when not dominating pop charts, has played the lead role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard more than any other actress in London, Ireland and the USA.

Nominees performing include Will Young alongside the cast of Cabaret, The Bodyguard’s Heather Headley and the casts of A Chorus Line and Top Hat, while former Busted star James Bourne will give an exclusive performance of one of the songs from his nominated show, Loserville.

Some of the stellar presenters on the night have also been announced, with Kim Cattrall, Lee Evans, Romola Garai, Lily James, Myleene Klass, Damian Lewis, Tim Minchin, Arlene Phillips, Daniel Radcliffe and David Suchet all due to hand out the coveted statuettes.

The hugely popular Covent Garden Piazza celebration, which was first staged in 2012, returns for a second year, giving theatergoers without a ticket to the ceremony the chance to head to London and be part of the action. In 2013, the BBC Radio 2 Stage will be hosted by broadcast personality Claudia Winkleman and musical theatre star Michael Xavier. Live performances from shows including Billy Elliot The Musical, Matilda The Musical, The Phantom Of The Opera, Wicked, Burn The Floor, Potted Potter and Some Like It Hip Hop will entertain the crowds who will also be able to watch a live stream of the ceremony on big screens.

The Olivier Awards return to mainstream television screens in 2013, as ITV will broadcast a fantastic highlights show featuring the very best moments of the evening soon after the ceremony has come to a close at the Royal Opera House. If you’re not in Covent Garden Piazza it will be the best way to soak up the glamour and see the performances, which promise to be phenomenal, for yourself.
